A man was shot and killed by police inside a New Jersey public library on Friday.
The incident began when two police officers spotted the suspect Kevin K. Allen walking into the Lyndhurst Public Library at about 2:30 p.m., according to NBC New York.
The officers then tried to detain Allen on the top floor of the library. Allen struggled against the officers, prompting them to deploy pepper spray and a baton, NBC New York reported.
Allen then pulled out a knife at the officers. The officers then shot and killed Allen.
“He brandished the knife, the officers deployed pepper spray and batons, Mr. Allen still went after them aggressively and left them no choice but to deploy deadly force,” Lyndhurst Police Chief James O’Connor told ABC 7.

It's almost inevitable: a shift change (and home sweet home) is moments away when something happens that completely screws everything up. Ptl. John Tiger of the Clinton Township (NJ) Police Department sent in this photo capturing two dozen young bulls that he said "decided to come and play in traffic 20 minutes before shift change." Tiger and his partner walked the animals back home in the rain.

Guernica painting is a famous painting by Pablo Picasso, painted in the months of May and June of 1937, whose title refers to the bombing of Guernica painting, which occurred on April 26 of that year, during the Spanish Civil War. The Guernica painting is an oil on canvas, with dimensions of 3.50 x 7.80 m. Despite its title, and the circumstances in which it was made, there is in him no specific reference to the bombing of Guernica painting or the Spanish Civil War. There is, therefore, a narrative, but symbolic. It is painted using only black and white, and a variety of gray.
The sides would, right, the burning house with the woman screaming, and the left, the bull and the woman with her dead son. The triptych is not, however, the only principle of spatial present in Guernica painting. It has been said that this symbolizes the electronic scientific and becomes a form of social progress but also a form of mass destruction in modern warfare. The bombing of Guernica painting could be a test of this technology.
On 26 April saw the bombing of the historic Basque town of Guernica painting by German and Italian aviations, which represented the first indiscriminate bombing of civilians on European soil.In the first sketch of the painting appear as the main characters of Guernica painting : the bull, the woman with the light, the warrior down on the ground and the horse.
The Guernica painting was moved to the Spanish pavilion at some point in the second fortnight of June 1937, though the facility only opened to the public on July 12, with considerable delay on the date of the opening of the International Exhibition, which took place on May 24.
In a six-week period before, during and after the execution of the painting, Picasso produced a total of 45 sketches, which are currently set by the Guernica painting. In the sketches we can see that, on 18 and 19 April, the Picasso still had the inspiration to design the work, despite the proximity of the date of the opening of the Exhibition. In these sketches, entitled El workshop: it su painter and model, only foreshadows the Guernica painting regards rectangular composition, although it noted certain similarities with the figures of the final frame.
Even after completion, Picasso drawing studies followed by partial details. The collection of drawings and sketches done around the Guernica painting consists of a total of 62 works that accompany mural on its journey later (notes and 16 unfinished versions of the final painting).
In July 1979, the Attorney Dumas met with President Suárez and said shortly after the Guernica painting would be in Spain for the centenary of the painter (ie in 1981). On September 9 of 1981, the Guernica painting was packed and loaded, including heavy security to provide for the rejection of the citizens of New York or even a possible terrorist attack, on a jumbo aircraft called Lope de Vega, which the captain renamed Guernica painting II.
On the occasion of the Olympic Games of Barcelona 1992, rebuilt in the university this city a flag identical to the International Exhibition of 1937. Although planned expose Guernica painting in this new pavilion, as was exposed to the public for the first time, the government did not authorize the transfer.
The horror of nationalism is symbolical in the painting, but the Guernica painting shows no evident connection with the bombing of the Basque village, not even with the civil war, apart, of course, the title, because it was dangerous to criticize the dictator during the time of the creation of the painting. In fact, during the years of dictatorship, the Guernica painting did become a sign of political identity of Franco, which is a powerful symbol that never left the heads of the Spanish people.
Numerous artists painted reproductions of the Guernica painting over the years, in whole or fragmentarily, because they wanted to understand the genius statement of this famous painting.

By Kylen Mills/OKCFOX.comOKLAHOMA– The 26-year-old son of Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor Mark Costello faces a first-degree murder charge following the death of his father.
Authorities say that a fight started between Mark Costello and his son, Christian, inside the Braum’s located at 11200 N. May around 6:35 p.m. Sunday. According to police, Mark Costello was found inside a vehicle stabbed multiple times despite trying to escape from his attacker.
Christian Costello was detained by individuals that were in the parking lot and he was immediately taken into custody. Police say Christian used a steak knife and stabbed Mark in the head and neck area multiple times. Police say they are investigating where the knife came from at this time.
According to officials, Mark Costello was transported to OU Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Christian Costello is currently booked into the Oklahoma County Jail awaiting formal charges.
In 2012, Christian pleaded guilty to assault and battery on a police officer, driving under the influence of a drug and resisting arrest. The charges were deferred and he was ordered to complete community service. Christian was also arrested in 2014 and charged with outraging public decency after a witness observed him with his pants down at St. Eugene’s School in The Village. When police arrived on scene, Christian was chewing on bird feathers and grass. Costello pleaded not guilty to the charge.
On Monday, the Costello family said Christian has been struggling with a mental health disease.
Representatives from the Labor Commission says they will have counselors on hand to tend to the emotional needs of Commissioner Costello’s staff.
Governor Mary Fallin announced on Twitter Monday that flags on state property will be lowered to half-staff through Friday in honor of Costello’s life and service to the people of Oklahoma. Several other lawmakers have released statements following Costello’s death.
Mark Costello has served as the Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor since 2010 and was re-elected last year to his second and final term in office. He was born in Bartlesville and was married to his wife for over 30 years and they have five children together.
