A group of Fort Worth, TX, officers saved the life of an armed robbery suspect following a police chase through south Fort Worth earlier this month.

Officers were told to be on the lookout for a silver sedan with three men, possibly armed with guns.

They spotted the suspects’ car on I-35, and a pursuit with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour ensued.

Eventually, the car wrecked and it wasn’t long before the engine erupted into flames.

Police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, went “above and beyond the call of duty,” a Sergeant said, by running towards a burning car to save an armed robbery suspect who tried to flee. The dramatic rescue was caught on body cam video.

The July 16 incident began when a burglary was reported at a home. While suspects were removing property from the home, they allegedly pointed a handgun at people outside the home, Fort Worth Police Sgt.

Police were given a description of the three suspects and the car and, when officers responded and spotted the vehicle, they tried to make a traffic stop, Povero said.

The suspects tried to evade officers, at one point reaching a speed of more than 100 miles per hour, he said. The car ran a red light and was t-boned by another car, which caused the suspect’s car to catch fire, he added.

One person fled on foot and was pursued by police, Povero said.

“The officers — knowing that there were weapons involved in the robbery — were very cautions about how they approached the vehicle,” Povero said. The officers removed one suspect from the back of the car and detained him.

They also saw an unconscious person in the front passenger seat, Povero said. As they were trying to extricate the person, the engine caught fire, increasing the flames.

“Disregarding” the fact that a gun was involved, Povero said, an officer went into the car from the driver’s side, reached over and freed the unconscious person’s legs, then pulled the person out from the passenger side.

San Diego’s police chief has issued an urgent update to a developing scene in Southern California.

Chief Shelley Zimmerman stated a second suspect has potentially been found after an officer-involved shooting the night before.

During the traffic stop both San Diego PD officers were shot; one later died from his wounds, the other was taken into surgery and is expected to recover.

But Chief Zimmerman added that evidence discovered by the police led the investigation to a home.

A suspect in custody has been hospitalized for a gunshot wound.

SYRACUSE, New York — A 30-year-old disabled Syracuse man was tasered and beaten by police for trying to stand while riding a bus. Brad Hulett was left partially crippled by a back injury and brain damage suffered when he was hit by a train as a child. He walks with a cane cannot sit while riding the bus. He says that most drivers allow him to stand while holding on to a pole.

On May 3, however, a driver asked him to leave — then called for the intervention of an off-duty police officer when Hulett refused.
