KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman reunited with a Kansas City police officer who she calls her hero — a reunion 20 years in the making. The woman lost contact with the officer when she moved out of state, but she came back recently to thank him in person.
Growing up in her neighborhood off of 27th Street is a hazy memory for Klynn Scales. What she does remember is the Kansas City police station down the street, a 7-11 store, and a Kansas City police officer who saved her life.
“Through all the bad situations, I would just picture him saying that he was here for us and that if we ever need him, he would be right there,” Scales recalled. “He would always protect us, and so those words would come to me during the worst times of my childhood life.”
Scales now lives in Texas, but FOX 4 spoke with her via FaceTime.
She said she grew up in a home filled with drugs and violence, with her mom and two brothers. At 9 years old, Scales met a police officer who would stop by her house daily.
“He was that one person that I trusted in my life as a kid,” Scales said.
Scales admits she stole food for her two brothers from the nearby 7-11. When she didn’t come running to greet the officer one day, he walked in the house and found her sick. He took her to the hospital where she was treated for malnutrition.
All this, and she didn’t know his name.
“I had actually thought about her and wondered whatever happened with her … when I was over by the old east patrol station,” said Sgt. Jeff Colvin. He was the officer Scales said looked after her.

Criminal Pulls Gun In Back Seat of Police Car.
A drunk, unhand-cuffed man pulled gun from his pants while sitting in a police squad car. Those are two lucky police officers.
12/19/2012
An intoxicated man pulled a loaded handgun on two Metro Transit police officers while in the back of their squad car, after a pat-down by the officers failed to find the weapon.
The man, identified by authorities as 21 year-old Wesley Rogers, had been seen “harassing” a woman at 7th St S and Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis shortly after four o’clock in the afternoon on Dec. 4, officials said. Metro Transit Ofcs. Jason Malland and Adam Marvin,
assigned on a detail in the area, responded and found Rogers “obviously
intoxicated.”
A pat-down search of Rogers by the officers found “an open bottle of liquor.” Rather than arrest Rogers or take him to a detox facility, the officers decided to take Rogers to his North Minneapolis home as a “courtesy,” according to Metro Transit.
Officers “heard a metal clunk” from the rear while driving, pulled over,
and found Rogers had pointed “a loaded .38 revolver” at them “while in a
squad.”
The incident was captured on a rear-facing squad surveillance camera.
The gun was not fired and Rogers was “subdued” and taken to the Hennepin County Jail.

F.B.I. Awards Glock New Duty Pistol Contract! – 911 Dispatcher Training Programs
F.B.I. Awards Glock New Duty Pistol Contract! – 911 Dispatcher Training Programs
https://911dispatcherprograms.wordpress.com/2016/07/01/f-b-i-awards-glock-new-duty-pistol-contract/

The FBI is one of the most influential Federal law enforcement agencies.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has just awarded an $ 85 million contract to Glock for the procurement of thousands of new Glock 9mm handguns for duty use by FBI Agents. The new Glock pistols will be 9mm, rather than the current .40 caliber FBI Glocks, but will be modified slightly to meet the RFP restrictions. This announcement came much sooner than we expected, however with Glock being the FBI’s current pistol supplier, I can see how a decision could be made more quickly. The official Contract Award Number is: DJF-16-1200-V-0006459.
Several months ago we posted an article titled “FBI Selects New Duty Pistol“, which discussed the FBI Request For Proposals on a new duty handgun. In the article we pointed out a series of design specifications that eliminated almost every major handgun available on the market at that time. That is, except for the Sig Sauer P320. The RFP appeared almost tailor-made for the newest striker-fired polymer framed pistol from Sig Sauer, which had gained considerable attention after release. Well, I was wrong! And I’m actually very excited I was wrong, because we’re getting a look at an all new Glock in short course.

The Glock 17 is very popular, but the new FBI Glock will not have finger grooves while adding a flared magwell and stripper base plates on the magazines (photo Glock).
FBI Selects an All New Glock!
When the FBI RFP was released in October, 2015, Glock was only eliminated by the current finger grooves on their frames, missing a flared magwell, and not having magazines with stripper base plates . It appears Glock made the few minor adjustments and met the FBI’s demands. However, this new Glock will be more than mix-matching Gen 1 or Gen 2 frames with Gen 4 slides and barrels. The flared magwell, and frame without grooves will be a whole new creation, sparking a large discussion on if the “new Glock” will become available to the public – and when! Will this new Glock be called a “Gen 5”, or as some sources are reporting, the “G17M“.

The RFP and final decision went through FBI Headquarters in Washington D.C. (photo by FBI)
The selection of Glock really should not be surprising. Though I made an articulate argument that the RFP was tailored to select the Sig Sauer P320 (and I still feel it was suspiciously close) I also left open the reality that the major firearm manufacturers would not just sit down without trying to win such a large contract. In fact, I pointed out that Glock was one of the most viable possibilities, since they would only have a few minor adjustments to meet the criteria (including already having frames without finger-grooves).
It will be very exciting to see exactly what the FBI Glock pistol looks like, and to find out its actual name. The flared magwell with stripper magazine base plates will enhance the overall performance of the pistol immensely during the highly critical moments of magazine changes. The removal of the grip finger grooves will ensure that more Agents of all sizes are able to obtain a solid master grip. Though the current Gen 3/Gen 4 finger grooves fit my hand well, I fully realize this is not the case for everyone. Being issued a handgun that doesn’t exactly fit well can be a miserable experience. This move makes sense.

The Glock 22 in .40 S&W was the FBI’s main duty pistol for years. The new FBI Glock will change appearance and caliber (photo by Glock).
Benefits of Keeping the Glock
The FBI has been carrying Glock handguns for nearly two decades, with the first recruit class training on Glocks in 1997. With nearly 20 years of organizational familiarity with the Glock handgun, the Bureau will be able to avoid huge costs associated with transitioning over 10,000 Agents to an entirely new handgun. The Glock accepted under the contract will still be very familiar to Agents in the most critical areas:
In addition, Glock has proven itself as a highly durable, accurate, and reliable pistol for 30 years in America. There really should be no surprise that Glock owns around 65% of the law enforcement market in the United States. Police officers need a reliable semi-auto handgun, capable of chambering the most widely used calibers (9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP), with reliable magazines capable of providing officers enough firepower to win a deadly force encounter.
Glock not only delivers all of those needs, they have been extremely gracious to law enforcement agencies making the purchase of brand new Glocks very reasonable. Typically Glock will offer a buy-back of the department’s current handgun, with a corresponding significant reduction in the price of a new Glock. It is not unheard of for police department’s to obtain new Glock handguns for as little as $ 350 (easily $ 200 less than market price).
Yet it is not just the price that has made Glock a winner. It is its performance time after time. Glock handguns have never won any beauty contests – they are painfully simplistic in their appearance. However, they have more than made up for a generic profile with a firing mechanism that is amazingly simple, and a trigger (with reset) that can make follow-up shots amazingly fast and accurate.
Despite being half polymer, the Glock handguns take a beating and keep on shooting. The Melonite-type finish (previously Tennifer) on the slide is incredibly resistant to scratching, scuffing, rust, and corrosion. The polymer frames can get scuffed up, but for the most part maintain their integrity through harsh abuse, providing the stable platform necessary for accurate shooting.
Final Thoughts
I’m very excited to hear Glock won the FBI contract. At a time where many have been attacking Glock for one reason or another, it is refreshing to see the company can still put together a winning handgun. Though there have been some legitimate issues with some of the Gen 4 Glocks (though highly exaggerated in my opinion), I would challenge anyone to say the new FBI Glock is anything but a winner.
The FBI is known for conducting some of the most rigorous and scientific studies on firearms and ammunition. If the FBI is satisfied with the new Glock, then this new handgun should have all our attention.
To those who argued against my points in the original RFP article , I yield my pulpit! But I do so with a smile on my face, and an eager curiosity to see the FBI’s New Pistol! Though the RFP appeared suspicious, I’m confident the selection process was not.

In the last three years numerous domestic US government agencies have ordered a total of over 750 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.
That’s right, multiple government agencies that specifically operate primary inside the United States have gone on a literal ammunition spending spree in preparation for what they must believe will be some sort of violent event.
In 2009, Winchester Ammunition was awarded a contract to supply the Department of Homeland Security with 200 million rounds of .40 caliber hollow point ammunition.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Winchester Ammunition was recently awarded a contract by the Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security to supply a maximum of 200 million, 40 cal. rounds over the next five years. Source
This huge ammunition order was apparently only the beginning.
In early March 2012 ATK won an indefinite delivery contract to supply DHS with a whooping 450 million more .40 caliber hollow point rounds.
ATK has secured a major Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity deal to supply up to 450 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security.
The 1 year contract with four option years comes at a time when many Americans believe that DHS, along with certain aspects of the military, will soon turn their sights on the American people during some sort of martial law scenario.
“We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE,” said Ron Johnson, the president of ATK’s Security and Sporting group,” reported a PR Newswire release.
The Department of Homeland Security is not the only US agency openly stocking up on .40 caliber ammo.
In November 2011 the FBI posted a request to the FBO.gov website for up to 100,000,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reserves the right to make multiple award under RFP-OSCU-TD2WP7101 for a fixed price indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity type contract.
The anticipated period of performance will be for one (1) base year and four (4) possible one-year options. The contractor will provide commercial, “off-the-shelf” .40 caliber ammunition compatible with pistols currently used by the FBI.
Not to be left out of the ammunition stocking spree, the US Forest Service recently purchased 320,000 rounds of ammo and, for their part, the US Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking an additional 13,500 rounds.
Added: Sep 28, 2011 5:15 pm
(1) 40 caliber, 180 grain, 120,000 rounds or equivalent,
(2) 9 mm, 124 grain, 50,000 rounds or equivalent,

(4) .380 caliber, 90 grain, 6,000 rounds or equivalent,
(5) .223 caliber, 64 grain, 87,500 rounds or equivalent,
(6) 12 gauge 00 buck, 15,000 rounds or equivalent,
(7) 40 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(8) 9 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(9) .223 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(10) 12 gauge 1 oz slug, 7,500 rounds or equivalent
The cartridges shall be delivered to Albuquerque, NM.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services require the following items, Exact Match Only, to the following:
1. Remington Frangible .40 Caliber Pistol Ammunition — 2,500 rounds
2. Remington .40 Caliber Pistol Ammunition (180 grain) Full Metal Jacket — 6,000 rounds
3. Remington .223 Caliber Rifle Ammunition (62 grain) Full Metal Jacket — 3,000 rounds
4. Remington FX Marking Cartridges (9 mm) — 2,000 rounds
Why is the US government buying millions of rounds of hollow point bullets specifically for use in domestic operations while at the same time attempting to label everyday gun owning Americans as possible terrorists?

Dear Citizens of Fountain County,
As the 2014 Primary Election comes to an end, I am asking you, The Citizens of Fountain County, for your support and vote. With your help, we can make Fountain County Drug Free. I have a child in the community and I am worried that if something is not done, WE as a county will lose this war on drugs. I have spent more than half of my life protecting the citizens of Indiana. I began my law enforcement career as an officer in Attica. I then spent 14 years serving the citizens as an Indiana State Trooper. During my tenure as a Trooper, I served six and a half years on the Emergency Response Team (SWAT). Also during my career, I worked interdiction, where I would drive up and down the interstate looking for drugs. During that time, I also taught classes on how to recognize drug impairment. After fourteen years, I retired to become your Fountain County Sheriff.
In 2003, I took office where I began working constantly, to stop the drug problem that was in front of us. During my eight years as YOUR Fountain County Sheriff, I worked to set up a five man dive team that could respond to any calls. I made sure that the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department could respond to any call, Land or Water.
I prided myself in making the deputies of Fountain County some of the best officers in the State of Indiana. I made sure every deputy in the department had the same opportunity to attend schools. I felt confident that when a 911 call was made, the officers could handle the situation with professionalism. I trusted my officers with my life and I hope they trusted me with their life. I knew when a family needed help our department would be there to help.
During my time as your sheriff, I worked with multiple agencies, FBI, ATF, DEA, IMMAGRATION, SECRET SERVICE, Indiana State Police, and the surrounding departments. With their help, we were able to crack down on crime in Fountain County.
I am asking for your support and vote on May 6th. Eight years were not long enough to accomplish everything. Once again, I am ready and prepared to take on the fight against drugs, I am ready and prepared to make Fountain County Safe Again, I AM READY AND PREPARED TO “PROTECT YOUR FAMILY AS MY OWN”, and I AM READY and PREPARED to “REINSTATE THE MEANING OF PROTECT AND SERVE”
Respectfully,
Robert ‘Bobby’ Bass

Three of the four Baltimore Police officers still awaiting trial in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray have filed fresh motions asking that their cases be dismissed based on alleged “defects” in the prosecution, according to court records.
Those defects, the officers’ attorneys have argued, relate to two recent disclosures — one by a Baltimore sheriff’s major, who said he agreed with prosecutors to sign off on the officers’ charges without personal knowledge of their foundation; and another by a police detective, who said prosecutors prompted her to provide misleading testimony to the grand jury that indicted the officers, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Attorneys for both Officer Garrett Miller and Sgt. Alicia White argued in nearly identical motions Monday that the disclosures show prosecutors violated the officers’ constitutional right to due process, and that the charges against them should therefore be dismissed.
Attorneys for Lt. Brian Rice, the next officer scheduled to stand trial, starting with a motions hearing July 5, also filed a motion requesting dismissal based on prosecutorial defects, though that filing was not immediately available on Tuesday.
